In the adjacent salon, cruisers can book such services as a blow out, a deep conditioning treatment, a manicure and pedicure, and even teeth whitening. Many of the activities occur on the Carnival Elation Lido Deck near the swimming pool. These include the beanbag toss, ice carving and the Miss Carnival Elation contest.

Another attraction for kids is the Carnival Elation arcade, where kids can while away the hours (and your money, so remember to set a limit) on racing games, games of skill and air hockey. Those looking for onboard souvenirs can pop into The Fun Shops, as well as the Swarovski Boutique. We had hoped to enjoy a bit more shopping onboard, the selection of shops was small.
One of my favorite activities on board was the Art Scavenger Hunt. It drew quite a crowd of all ages — and you don’t have to know a thing about art to participate. It was a fun way to get people into the art area to look at different pieces and appreciate them without any pressure to buy.
Those who prefer a more laid-back environment will enjoy smaller ships with fewer amenities. If, however, you're like me, you'll have a better time onboard larger ships that feature the latest and greatest activities. Smoking in cabins/suites and on their balconies is prohibited. On Carnival Elation, smoking allowed areas (cigarettes /incl electronic cigarettes) are Jekyll And Hyde Nightclub (disco /not allowed on the dance floor), Casino (designated areas), Casino Bar.
Any time you're in your room, you're just steps away from your own personal outdoor oasis, featuring the sort of sea view you can also feel. Carnival Elation offers a few different complimentary dining options. While you don’t get the range and breadth of options you might enjoy on Carnival’s newer ships, you certainly get enough to keep you occupied for the duration of a short cruise. When I took my first Carnival cruise on Carnival Celebration, I was impressed by the modern accommodations, variety of dining options, and an array of onboard activities.
Carnival elation was launched/floated out from drydock on January 4, 1998, and delivered (as MS Elation) to Carnival on March 20, 1998. The inaugural cruise season started on April 12, 1998, and was based on homeporting in LA and 7-day Mexican Riviera itineraries visiting Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. In December 2017, Carnival announced the 2019 deployment of Carnival Elation to Port Canaveral (Orlando Florida) (new homeport).
Since, the ship has mostly stayed in the same area, sailing the Caribbean from various homeports in the Sunshine State. More comprehensive dry docks took place in 2017 and 2020, when Carnival updated Carnival Elation with a lot of the brand’s classic venues and restaurants, now considered staples on all of their ships. The most recent dry dock took place in early 2023, with cosmetic enhancements including a new hull design and paint scheme, plus some minor changes, like rebranding the ship’s spa as the Cloud 9 Spa. Carnival Elation is the same age as Carnival Paradise, which was also launched in January of 1998.
Both Grand Vista Suites (GV category/forward on Deck 14) have walk-in closets, floor-ceiling windows (bow views), step-out balconies (low tables, patio chairs). Cabins with Extended Balcony are with aft-location and larger verandas. The Carnival cruise ship Elation has a total of 33 wheelchair-accessible cabins (for disabled passengers) and no Spa cabins (with exclusive access to Spa Carnival facilities). There are a select number of interior rooms with porthole windows that accommodate two guests, providing natural light and a glance at the ocean.
